About Amy

Artist Statement

"Everyone is creative. We all have an artist within us. My creativity is portrayed in my quilting and fabric dyeing. Like all artists, I am inspired and influenced by my experiences and the world around me. Sometimes my quilting is about having fun. Other times it is about making a statement. When I discovered quilting, I was thrilled to have found my passion. I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

I have two bodies of fiber art, both of which can be described as contemporary art quilts.  The first group includes primarily whole cloth pieces where I apply acrylic paint and pastels to duck cloth, layer it with batting and then machine quilt the layers to add an additional dimension and more texture to the piece.  The second body uses my hand-dyed fabrics.  The fabrics are cut and fused together, layered and machine or hand quilted.

My work is filled with bright, energetic colors and the intuitive nature of the work results in optimistic and bold pieces. The abstract designs allow space for the viewer’s imagination and life experiences to play a role in the meaning and interpretation of each piece".
